Screen Australia announces next round of funding
Screen Australia has announced the recipients of the next round of funding for Aussie made games. With over $2 million up for grabs, some of the recipients include:
- Cozy Common, a life sim game where you discover the secrets of the town
- Frogreign a story driven platformer where you play as a frog prince
- Jupiter Junkworks, an arcade puzzle game where you build a spaceship salvage yard
- Zodiac Mountain, a roguelike deckbuilder where you embark on a mystical jounrey as a panda
- and Doggy Don’t Care, a comedy action platformer, where you cause chaos as a mischievous pup
this funding will help see these games brought to life, in what is amazing news for Aussie devs. Find out more here
Pompeii: the legacy announced
There’s a new city builder game on the way, and this one sees you step back in time to ancient Rome. Pompeii: The Legacy was announced this week, a colony sim game which sees you rebuild the city of Pompeii 20 years after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius. This looks set to be a great historical addition to the city builder space, so make sure to add this one to your wishlist. Find out more here!
Bulwark Evolution announced
Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles has had a major update and with it a complete rebrand too. Now called Bulwark Evolution, the update and rebrand sees the culmination of development over the early access period, with player feedback leading to the development to include more conquest with a new total conquest mode, a combat overhaul, the addition of ancient fortresses, commander improvements, an economic overhaul and honestly the list goes on. It’s been so exciting to see this game evolve over the early access period, and this update really adds so much more to the game. Find out more here.
Cat Cafe Manager 2 launch kickstarter
The second game in the Cat Cafe series, Cat Cafe Manager 2, has launched it’s kickstarter campaign. This cozy management life sim, takes cafe management to a city location, bringing the same cute kitty theme to a new location. The kickstarter is live now, so you can support this cute and cozy game’s development, with some awesome pledge rewards up for grabs. Find out more here
Balatro is headed to mobile
The wildly popular roguelike deckbuilding game with a poker theme, Balatro, is headed to mobiles. Releasing on both android and ios, mobile playres will be able to get in on the card based action, and create their own hands to up the ante and beat the devious blinds. You can pre-order the game now on the Google Play store and the Apple store, with the game dropping September 26th. Find out more here
My time at Evershine announced
The 3rd game in the MyTime series has been announced, My Time at Evershine. We’ve not really been given much to go off at the moment, just a kickstarter page and some key art, but they have said more information is coming soon, with the kickstarter to launch later this month. Check it out here
Railroad Corp 2 delayed
The train tycoon management game Railroad Corporation 2 has unfortunately been delayed. The devs have released a statement delaying the release from September 9th to October 21st, stating that testing has identified some bugs and areas in need of improvement, and so they’ve made the difficult decision to delay the release to work on the game more. While this is disappointing news, it’s always great to see devs ensuring their game is ready for release, and we’ll be eagerly awaiting the release in October. Find out more here
Final update for Wylde Flowers has dropped
The cozy life sim where you play as a witch farming by day and casting spells by night, Wylde Flowers, has dropped the final update for the game. This sees the culmination of two years of updates for the game since release, with the last update adding a new lighthouse to restore, new magical creatures to discover, new jewelery to craft and some new recipes to learn. The update is live now, so you can jump right in to the new content right now. Check it out here!
New trailer for Solarpunk drops
In this co-op survival game, you’ll construct buildings, grow food, craft gadgets and explore distant islands with your airship. Solarpunk is an upcoming open world survival crafter and they’ve just dropped a new trailer, giving us a taste of what’s to come. Showcasing some of the updates to the buildings system, this game is looking incredible, and is definitely one to watch. Check it out here
The ANZ Indie Showcase announced
In some news of our own, this week we announced The ANZ Indie Showcase. Celebrating the best of Aussie and NZ games, the showcase will feature some of our incredible homegrown games.
