Cozy Medieval Life Sim, Mirthwood, gets new co-op update

The cozy medieval life sim Mirthwood is about to get a whole lot cozier – with friends.

Bad Ridge Games and V Publishing have officially confirmed that the long-awaited co-op update for Mirthwood launches July 10. Revealed during the 2025 Best Indie Games Summer Showcase hosted by ClemmyGames, the update brings local split-screen multiplayer and Steam Remote Play support, letting two players share the Freelands side-by-side.

You can farm, fight, and fall in love – together. The update features a dynamic camera system that adjusts as both players explore, with drop-in/drop-out functionality for seamless play. Player 2 has full access to progression systems like combat, crafting, and farming, and both players keep their own inventories, skills, and equipment.

And yes – you can romance and even marry your co-op partner. The game now lets players raise a child together, who inherits traits from both parents and eventually becomes their own NPC in the world.

The update also adds several combat improvements, including a directional attack indicator, enemy lock-on, and performance boosts. New farm buildings and items are also being introduced.

Online co-op is still planned for a future update, but for now, grab a friend and get ready to build your legacy side-by-side. The Mirthwood co-op update arrives July 10.
