Clanfolk charts new territory with Update 17

The Scottish Highlands just got a whole lot bigger. MinMax Games and Hooded Horse have rolled out Update 17 for Clanfolk, introducing the game’s most expansive feature yet: a world map with over 500 hex-based territories to explore.

Unlocked via the mid-game Planning Table, the world map allows players to send their clan members on over 100 unique expeditions. These journeys can uncover advanced technologies—like steelmaking—available only through interactions with other clans’ castles. Each expedition presents special events that offer additional rewards, adding depth to the colony-building experience.

In addition to the new exploration mechanics, Update 17 introduces more than 60 historically authentic recipes, items, and worktables. These additions enhance the technological progression within the game, offering players new ways to develop and customize their settlements.

This update builds upon the foundations laid by Update 16, which added features such as difficulty modes, new environments, flooding mechanics, and a variety of objects like baby toys and turnip lamps.

Clanfolk is currently available in Early Access on Steam, with a 50% discount running until May 30th. For a detailed look at all the new features, check out the full patch notes on the Steam store.
